Oscar Watch 2026 – F1

This movie, about an aging race car driver, really is a race to the finish. Although 2 1/2 hours long, it didn’t seem longer than it needed to be. I used to be a bit of a NASCAR fan but otherwise don’t know that much about the racing world. Even if you’re not a fan of car racing, or don’t know anything about racing, the movie teaches you the bare minimum you need to know in order to thoroughly enjoy it. Brad Pitt plays the main character who is partnered with a young, cocky hotshot. They bump heads and egos often until they figure out that if they work together, they can bring their last place team into the spotlight. There is also corporate intrigue, heart-stopping action and accidents, and nail-biting anticipation. I’m not sure if it is worthy of Best Picture, but it sure was fun.
