Oscar Watch 2026 – Sentimental Value

sentimental value

After the death of their mother, two sisters must face their estranged father as they deal with the aftermath and decisions about the family home. Their father decides to make a movie loosely based on his life with his mother in that family home. As if their past family dynamics and estrangement aren’t enough, the father snubs his actress daughter in favour of an American actress for the leading role in his attempt at a comeback with this film.

It is a soppy, dragged out look into the dull and lifeless relationships between the sisters and their father. A wholly unwatchable, overly tedious, and unevocative exercise in the examination of family that no one is even remotely interested in. Two hours of my life that I’ll never be able to make up for.
